SAT 21-22
March 2 - March 4, 2022
Make-up April 13 - April 20, 2022 (but not the 18th)

Did you Know?
  • SAT is for accountability. Per federal law, Indiana is required to have a statewide assessment for accountability purposes.
  • Only tests at your school go to accountability. Saturday tests do not count toward the accountability requirement.
  • SAT will be 40% of your state grade. For state accountability, the SAT will be used to determine the score for the performance domain of high schools (grades nine through 12) and will contribute to approximately 40% of the overall grade.
  • SAT is not a graduation requirement.
  • SAT will be mandatory with the 2023 cohort of students.
  • The IDOE has determined priority standards based on test content.

  • Unlike the Paper Pencil version where no scrap paper is allowed, the Online SAT does allow scrap paper and pencil and also does allow students to use their own calculators on the calculator portion.
  • What to Expect with the Digital SAT video (5 minutes)
  • SAT FAQ
  • Sample Online SAT - This will allow students to familiarize themselves with how the SAT Assessment will look for them and all the buttons and tools they have available for them to use.
  • Accommodations for SAT will not be transferred from Indiana IEP or other systems, but instead will need to be entered for each individual student in the College Board SSD Online system. Students who already have College Board accommodations will retain those accommodation designations in the system. It is recommended you use their SSD online option 2 months before the test.
  • Participation rates will be based on all students who are a part of the 2023 cohort. The only students in that cohort who do not take the SAT Assessment are those who are taking the alternative assessment, IAM. The alternative assessment will take the place of the SAT in the participation count.

The SAT as a statewide assessment is yet another change in the world of assessment. This change brings about new challenges for those in the many roles necessary to make the testing happen. Below are some positives for us to remember.

  • Shorter Testing Time: Each student completes testing in one day*, resulting in less disruption to high school class schedules.
  • SAT uses Cambium (CIA) which also delivers ILEARN, I Am, ISTEP+, which means the platform still uses TIDE (familiar to CTCs, STCs, and TAs) and the students will recognize the testing format.
  • Established Assessment:
Proficiency for Indiana students will be evaluated using a nationally recognized assessment, with a long track record of excellence.
  • College-Reportable Scores: SAT scores may be used by students to fulfill some college entrance requirements. Previous tests did not provide that opportunity. Students may send their scores to up to four colleges and universities. (*Except for students with an extended time accommodation.)
  • The cost of the SAT and the ability to travel to testing sites have traditionally been an obstacle for many low-income students and families. All students now get the opportunity for free during the school day.
