U.S.-based Fitch Ratings Inc. said that hard reinsurance market conditions are diminishing but are strong enough to offset surging risks from economic inflation and financial market volatility, Reinsurance News reported. Fitch said that major European reinsurers Scor SE, Swiss Reinsurance Co. Ltd., Munich Reinsurance Co. and Hannover Re SE posted strong earnings in 2021 due to rate hikes and low COVID-19 related property and casualty claims, and are well-positioned to tackle further pandemic-related claims and above-average natural catastrophe losses.
