Don’t Miss These Upcoming Conferences

The 2022 Mississippi disAbility MegaConference is June 16-17, 2022, at the Jackson Hilton. It is Mississippi’s largest cross-disability conference for people with disabilities, families, students, and professionals. Hotel stipends and a respite room for children are available.

Presenters, sponsors, and exhibitors will share the latest information and innovations on many topics. Speakers David Hale, Jill Jacobs, and Dwight Owens inform and inspire participants. There will be a variety of breakout sessions. One of the sessions, Mississippi’s State of Mental Health Services with Polly Tribble and Joy Hoggewill provide an overview of current litigation regarding adult mental health services in Mississippi. Jacqueline Fleming, LCSW and Teri Brister, Ph.D., members of the Court Monitoring Team in U.S. v. Mississippi, will be part of the panel and listen to attendees’ questions and concerns.

Save the date for the 2022 Virtual Mississippi Trauma-Informed Care Conference, Finding Hope in a Never-Ending Storm, September 21-23. Registration opens in July. The conference website explains: “For the past eight years, several state and local agencies have joined together to host the annual Trauma-Informed Care Conference. Each year, the conference has brought together over 500 diverse participants representing a wide array of service providers. This year’s theme, ‘Building Resiliency through the Pandemic,’ was chosen to provide optimism that we will work through this difficult time by developing new coping strategies and building resiliency skills.”

Families Can’t Wait: Providing Essential Supports for Today’s Challenges and Tomorrow’s Wellness, the National Federation of Families’ annual conference, is in-person November 3-5, 2022, in Oklahoma City, Ok. It is the only national conference dedicated solely to supporting families whose children—of any age—experience mental health and/or substance use challenges during their lifetime. We encourage you to attend and also consider being a sponsor or exhibitor.
