Women Educators Leading Learning (WELL)
Did you know that women make up the majority of the national K-12 education workforce (75-80%), yet the top spot of superintendent is held by only  20-25% women? This statistic has been the same for the last fifty years and is also true in IN!

Therefore, IAPSS has instituted the Women Educators Leading Learning (WELL) program to provide opportunities for all women education leaders in IN to network, receive encouragement and support, and hopefully, eventually, change the statistics. 

For the 22-23 school year, WELL is hosting the following activities:   
November 2: one day seminar in Indy  (agenda  & registration)   
March 3: one day seminar in Indy     
June 19 & 20: Third annual summer conference

There are discounts for multiple folks from the same district that participate, as well as discounts for attending multiple events. See the online registration information on the IAPSS website, under the program opportunities link. Also this year, if participants are members of IASP, they will not need to also join IAPSS in order to attend WELL programs.

Data Training

The IDOE released TWO new resources in 2022 that allow schools to use ILEARN-related data.  One, Standards in Essential Need of Support(SENS), focuses on specific standards.  The other, the Academic Impact Study, looks at each individual student who started taking ILEARN in 2019 and various subgroups. The Impact report looks at both proficiency and recovery from pre-pandemic. Both are valuable, but the time to dig in is limited. REMINDER: General Election Classroom Instruction is required. All Indiana schools must provide five full recitation periods of class discussion for grades six through 12 of the following topics within the two weeks preceding a general election: systems of government in Indiana and in the U.S., methods of voting, party structures, election laws and responsible citizen participation in government and elections. www.InLearningLab.com resources linked below.

STEM/Lit Cadre 2 Interest Form

Are you ready to learn about using Multi-Sensory Approaches in Phonics Instruction for the K-2 classroom (or during intervention)? While utilizing The Orton-Gillingham Educators' Guide, we will discover & discuss the fundamentals of multi-sensory instruction. Educators will leave understanding the purpose behind visual and blending drills, the basic rules of language, & the purpose of assessment to guide instruction for students to succeed. This session will utilize multiple resources for phonics instruction while also allowing teachers to share their ideas and/or strategies.  Teachers will leave with a toolbox of tips to quickly implement during their literacy block!

Adam McMickle (IDOE) will lead a discussion around the new Civics standards and updated 7th and 8th-grade social studies standards to assist schools in planning for implementation for the 2023-24 school year. This session geared for school leaders will assist in your planning for implementation. NOTE: Full-day sessions geared toward instructors and focused on curriculum planning and alignment will be scheduled for spring 2023.

Standards Reduction and Prioritization
Educators have been heard! We know the number of standards we are asked to teach is overwhelming and not realistic. Changes are coming to relieve that heavy load. Are you familiar with the upcoming process to reduce standards by 25% with a goal of prioritizing 33% of the remaining standards? Details: Standards Reduction and Prioritization
