Sign up to #MakeClimateAClass in March/April 2023

In Spring Semester 2023,  we are asking that all AUCA Climate-Concerned Faculty spend 30 minutes in their classrooms talking about how their fields, be it anthropology, business, economics or history, are engaging with climate solutions and climate justice.

Why take the Teach-in to the classroom? The idea is for all of us to inspire our students to engage with climate issues, by thinking about pursuing internships and careers as climate psychologists, artists, faith leaders, lawyers, communicators, and social and natural scientists.

#MakeClimateAClass is organised by  the WorldWide Teach-in on Climate and Justice, an initiative run through Bard GPS and the Open Society University Network.Thousands of other Climate Concerned faculty members will be taking part in this campaign in March and April 2023.

Here is a suggested format. However, please sign up here if you will be discussing climate for 30 minutes or more in any format this semester, so we can track participation among AUCA Faculty members.

15 Minutes:  A discussion on how your field is contributing to climate justice / climate solutions.

15 Minutes:  Zoom in an alum or colleague who is working professionally on climate in your field. The Bard Graduate Programs in Sustainability (GPS) have over 400+ working alums with whom we can connect you with the help of colleagues from Bard, with varied backgrounds from the arts, humanities and social and natural sciences. So we are glad to help you find a guest speaker who can speak to working on climate in your field. (Let us know by answering the last question below)

This campus-wide engagement can inspire AUCA students to move beyond climate despair to a sense of intellectual excitement and of agency around climate change solutions.

Help us track participation by signing up here today to #MakeClimateAClass for 30 minutes in one or more of your classes (ideally all of them!) sometime in March or April 2023.

Thank you.
