Apr 59 a.m. to 3 p.m. ETWIDA 2020: More Than a TestThe Southern Indiana Education Center is happy to share a full day digging into the WIDA 2020 English Language Development Standards Framework, newly updated in 2020. Many of us are familiar with WIDA only as an accountability measure, utilizing the screener and/or the ACCESS test. The evidence-based and collaboratively-built resources for teachers are so much more than that. New or experienced teachers of multilingual learners are welcome to attend this session which will feature: the five WIDA Standards Statements; conceptual framing and integration of content and language; Key Language Uses; these provide focus and coherence; Language Expectations for setting goals for content-driven language learning; Proficiency Level Descriptors which provide a detailed description of how students might develop language across six levels of English language proficiency; and Practical approaches for the classroom will be shared along with purposeful planning techniques using the new 2020 WIDA Standards resources. Participants will leave with an improved knowledge of the updated 2020 WIDA ELD Standards and confidence in providing informed instruction to all multilingual learners, no matter their proficiency level. PLUS, each participant will receive a hard copy resource of the WIDA 2020 Standards edition! DeAnne Taggart, SIEC Solutions Specialist and former EL Teacher of Record will be leading this session.Southern Indiana Education Center, 1102 Tree Lane Drive, Jasper, IN 47546In-person - See registration link for additional detailsTeachers and Coordinators of MLsDeAnne TaggartRegistration - Free to SIEC Consortium Members; $175 for Non-Consortium Members
